FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is our camp like?

This is going to be our third summer in business at Camp Nativity.  We will have activities that children of all ages and with whatever interest can enjoy.  We will make full use of the facility that consists of an open field large enough for many sports and activities, and an air conditioned hall for arts and crafts, talent shows, board games and snacks.  Sports will consists of flag football, basketball, dodge ball, wiffle ball, floor hockey, soccer, and many more.  There will also be tournaments that will include counselors teaming up with campers.  There are field trips planned and are listed on the Activities Calendar.   Music lessons and academic tutoring will be provided depending upon request.  Once registered, you will be provided with a Camp Nativity booklet, which includes a calendar of all the events, sports activities, arts and crafts, and theme days.

Can we register one week at a time?
As a convenience to parents who have not determined a summer schedule, we accept weekly registrations.  These are due the Friday prior to the week scheduled.  The tuition for this is $175.00 per child.  Daily camp registrants are accepted at a rate of $40 (cash) per day.

Will the camp be going on trips this year?  Are the trips free?
Yes the camp will be going on approximately eight trips this year.   There will be a fee for the trip. The trips are listed on the Activities Calendar.

Is there air conditioning available?
Yes. The children will have access to the dining hall below the church which is air conditioned and with plenty of space.

Will campers have First Aid and CPR training?
Yes.  All camp personnel are trained in CPR and basic First Aid.

Will lunches be provided?>
No.  Lunches are not provided, but we do have refrigeration available for campers who bring their own lunch and a snack bar will be on site.  Pizza is offered everyday at the price of $1.00.

I see that there is a daily rate of $15 for extended care.  Is that rate per child or family? Also, I work 3 days per week, would I be able to only pay extended care for the days I work and have them come 9-4 on my days off, paying accordingly?
That rate is $15/day and $55/week per child.  You would be able to pay extended care for the days they would be there.  The camp would need notification the Friday prior as of the days the children would be having extended hours.

Can I register for a few weeks and then add on a few more later in the year once I   have my schedule set?
Yes.  Parents and their schedules change and we will be as flexible as possible as those changes occur.  You can add on weeks for your children as the summer continues.

Can I add on the extended hours in the summer if needed?
Yes.  Extended hours can be added on later in the summer.  The early we know the better.

On really hot days, will swimming be available?
We do not have a swimming pool.  This year we will be going to CB East on Wednesdays for swimming lessons and open swim.  That will be an additional charge. We will have “Water Play” days in which campers can bring water guns, water balloons, and their swimsuits.  We will have small inflatable pools, slip ‘n’ slides, and sprinklers for the campers to enjoy.  Even on the days we don’t have a designated “Water Play” day, sprinklers will be made available if the temperature calls for some “cooling off”.

What will the ratio of children to counselors be? Are the children grouped according to age or grade?
The ratio of children to counselors will be approximately 8:1.  We will not be grouping children according to age or grade unless it came to certain activities that they need to be separated due to safety.

What are your plans for rainy days?
We will have access to the hall downstairs from the church. Party Magic has offered their space with a fee and it is air conditioned.  This will be a weather permitted decision.

Will there be separate seating for children with allergies?
There will be plenty of tables for children with allergies to sit at without any substances that they are allergic to.  If we are outside, then children will be free to sit anywhere in the areas supervised by counselors.

Will the counselors be college kids, teachers of the school, parents?  What kind of camp background do they have?  Will they have taken the abuse class and had criminal background checks in order to be allowed to be around the children?
The counselors will range from teachers, teacher's aides, college students, and high school students.  Every counselor will be First Aid/CPR certified and have the child abuse and criminal background checks.
